WILLIAM C. "BILL" HERBER, 90, of Eden Prairie, Minn. and formerly of Edina, Minn. and Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Bill grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from the University of Notre Dame and its law school. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an FBI agent in New York City until moving to Minneapolis, Minn. in 1955. After 34 years, he retired from IDS where he served in the legal department and then VP/corporate secretary of the Mutual Funds Group. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace since 1955, Edina Country Club and was an avid golfer and student of the game. "Bill will be deeply missed by family and friends." Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Sue; children, Bill (Mary Absolon), Mary, John, Martha (Mike) Burns, Bob (Eileen); eight grandchildren, Chirs, Molly, Claire, Nick, Maggie, Jimmy, Kate and Sean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary; wives, Grace and Claire; sons, Danny and Jimmy. Mass of Christian Burial is 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Church of Our Lady of Grace, 5071 Eden Ave., Edina, Minn. with visitation one hour prior.
