GAYLORD E. BEERBOWER, 92, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest Nursing Center, Decatur. Born June 6, 1921, in Warren, Ind., he was a son of the late Chester H. and Hazel (Logan) Beerbower. Gaylord worked as a conductor with the Pennsylvania Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in South Pacific and Europe during World War II. He dedicated over 60 years to the Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne. Surviving are his three daughters, Sharon Logan of Dallas, Texas, Sue Stiebeling of Fort Wayne and Barbara J. Durnell of Huntertown; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita H. Beerbower; daughter, Flo Bauer; and brother, Kenneth Beerbower. Service is Sunday, 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from noon to 2 p.m. The Rev. Mike Wertenberger officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
