Donald Roger Dubois

SOMERSWORTH - Donald Roger Dubois, "Don" of Somersworth passed away in peace Monday, August 18th 2014, at the age of 80 with his family by his side.

Don was born in Sanborn, Maine on April 30, 1934. He was the son of Jean and Marie Dubois, the oldest of the three siblings.

He was an all-around athlete and was a football star at Somersworth High School graduating in 1953. He wore his jersey proudly representing #81 as the varsity tight end helping his team win the state championship and multiple undefeated seasons.

Don also served in the Navy at a very early age then went on to the Coast Guard and National Guard receiving many awards. While he continued to serve our country, he worked for General Electric retiring after 36 years. He was also on the Somersworth police force, worked at Janco for some time and ended his career working as a security officer at Wentworth Douglas Hospital.

He was also part of many organizations such as being president of General Electric's Employee Association, Lions Club, member at Rochester Country Club and Major Waldron Sportsmen Association where he loved to shoot skeet.

Don will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him including; his two daughters, Natalie and Gail Dubois; granddaughter Rylan Dubois; Penny Dubois; brother Richard and his wife Lucille Dubois; sister Doris and her husband Val Lucier; also his many extended family members and friends.

Don carried quite the legacy. Anyone that knew Don knew he had a heart of gold and brought the sunlight wherever he went. You could find him having breakfast at Strafford Farms and then fishing across the lake at Willand Pond, enjoying his time at the beach with Rylan, enjoying his Indian culture, chatting it up at Renaissance Fire Arms or having his favorite dish at the Olive Garden. He also was an active member at St. Martens Church. And did Don love to Dance … Anywhere, anyplace preferably with a lady friend(s) :)

The celebration of his life will be Tuesday, August 26th at 5 p.m. at Purdy funeral home in Dover and there will be a Interment service Thursday, August 28th at 11:30 a.m. at Boscawen Veteran Cemetery.

May you rest in peace and know that Heaven gained an amazing man.
