LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Harry Pesko, 86, passed away on May 19, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Harry was born on Jan. 11, 1928 in McKeesport, Pa., the son of Joseph and Alvina Pasko.
On Nov. 26, 1949, he married Estelle Laderbush; they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2010.
In 1945 Harry joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served 20 years, retiring upon return from Vietnam. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Portsmouth retiring after 20 years. He was an avid fisherman, lobsterman, and a member of the Portsmouth Elks, American Legion, VFW, and the Creek A.C.
Survivors include his children, Joseph Pesko and wife Denise; Liz Landry and husband Mike; Darlene Deblois and husband Bob; grandchildren, Kerianne McGary, Danielle Pesko and Shane Landry; great-grandchildren Evan and Ella McGary; brothers, Frank and Ray, and sister Dolores.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his daughter, Dee Arnold, and brothers, George and John.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. A reception in his memory will be held following visitation at 7:30 p.m. at the Portsmouth Lodge of Elks, Jones Avenue, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
