SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - M. Juanita Boyle Messina, 89, of High Knoll Dr. died Saturday December 14, 2013 at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living.
She was born August 3, 1924 in Little Rock AR the daughter of Benjamin Catherina and Mary Sue Knoff.
After the youngest of her seven children went to school Nita went to work on PAFB, first at the commissary, then at the Hospital as manager of the business office. Nita worked at the base for 22 years, retiring in 1984. During that time, she developed lifelong friendships with many local and military personnel.
She very much enjoyed square dancing with her late husband Tommy Boyle. She was a member of St. Ann's Society, the "Golden Girls". Nita took up golfing after she retired and with her late husband, Fred Messina, traveled and golfed extensively. She enjoyed meeting friends for golf and lunch, traveling, volunteering at York Hospital, and lending an extra hand at Varney Crossing while Freddie lived there.
She is survived by her children Frank Boyle and his wife Mary of Melrose, Mass., Dennis Boyle and his companion Audrey Sekenski of South Berwick, Maine, Kevin Boyle and his wife Sandy of Keene, Brian Boyle and his wife Debby of Kittery, Maine, daughter Eileen Boyd and her husband Bryan of Rochester, daughter-in-law Bonnie Lafleur of Fla., son-in-law Steven Thayer of Rollinsford, She was Nana to eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and dear friend Nancy Boyle. Nita was predeceased by her son Thomas "Mickey" Boyle and her daughter Mary "Tricia" Thayer.
Nita's family would like to thank the staff at Bellamy Fields for the wonderful care she received over the last four years.
Calling hours will be Wednesday December 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday December 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola at St. Mary's Church on Church St. Rollinsford, N.H. Burial will be in the spring at New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford.
