KITTERY, Maine - Roland A. Murray, 83 of Gray Lodge Road in Kittery died on July 8, 2014 at his home.
Born in Wells, Maine on October 10, 1930, he was a son of the late Samuel N. and Susan R. (Hutchins) Muray he attended local schools before entering the United States Navy. He made a career of the Navy serving many duty stations and while serving he met and married his loving wife Frances (Bailey) Muray. Upon his discharge in 1966 they settled in Kittery where they made their home and raised their family.
Roland worked for many years in the heating business for Goodwin Oil and Weatherwatch, he then drove truck for Amour foods for a number of years as well as working for many years at Heidleburg Harris in Dover before retiring. Over the years he and his wife enjoyed travel to Germany, hunting with family caring for his yard and family gatherings.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife Frances A. Murray of Kittery, daughter Deborah Drew of Kittery, sons Samuel J. and his wife Linda Murray of South Berwick and Daniel and his wife Katherine of N.C., grandchildren Ashley, Andrew, Jessica, Joshua, Katie, Matthew, Daniel Jr, Billy, a sister Ruth Woodard and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with Rolands family on Monday from 5-7 p.m. in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904, where a funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Gallagher officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Beacon Hospice or the First Congregational Church, Kittery Point Maine. Care for the Murray family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
