Sherri A. Basso

Dover – Sherri A. Basso, 43, of Dover, current Democratic candidate for State Representative in Stafford County District 17, serving Dover Wards 5/6 and Somersworth Ward 2, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, Mass., after a brief illness.

She was born April 5, 1971 in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Gloria Cody and Bruce G. Basso.

Sherri graduated from high school in Kingston and earned her bachelor's degree cum laude in journalism from California State University at Northridge where she was copy editor for the daily student newspaper, and was CSU, Northridge chapter president for the Society of Professional Journalists.

She copy edited for several magazine publications before returning to New Hampshire. Upon her return she utilized her communication skills, as the Vice-Chair of the Seacoast Young Democrats where she became passionate watching the political process unfold. She currently was serving on the Executive Committee for the Dover Democrats where as a member, publicized their events and wrote articles for their website.

Family members include her mother, Gloria Cody and her husband Dennis Cholewinski of Dover, her father, Bruce Basso and his partner Kathy Cranford formerly of Haverhill, Mass., now in North Carolina, her sister, Cristy Short and her husband Albert of Barrington, nephew, Shane Short and his fiancé Brandi Hill, their son Braxton and nephews Cole and Aidyn Short, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Avenue, Dover. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, End 68 Hours of Hunger, P.O. Box 676, Somersworth, NH 03878 or to, Dover Democratic Committee, c/o William Dudley, Treasurer, 8 Southwood Dr., Dover, NH 03820, two causes Sherri was deeply passionate about.
