Thomas A. Bourque

SANFORD - Thomas A. Bourque, 65, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Tom was born in Somerville, Mass., on Feb. 3, 1948, to Rene and Mary (Tait) Bourque.

He grew up in Wilmington, Mass., where he attended local schools and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967.

After finishing high school, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army for four years, proudly serving his country in Vietnam.

In 1967, he married Judith F. Schena. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage and raised three children.

After completing his enlistment in the U.S. Army, Tom went to Wilmington Pump.

In 1986, he and his family relocated to Maine. He continued to work for Wilmington Pump, commuting back and forth until 1988, when he opened his own business, Southern Maine Pump Supply, which he owned and operated until his death.

Tom was a very hardworking man. He was very generous and took pride in providing for his family. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting and maintained other various interests throughout his life. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Thomas was predeceased by his son, Thomas M. Bourque, his parents and three siblings, Walter McKillop, James McKillop and Eleanor Ingaharro.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Bourque, of Sanford; two children, Darlene Fenderson and her husband, Bryan, of East Baldwin, and David T. Bourque, of Shapleigh; eight grandchildren, Thomas M. Bourque, Jr., of Shapleigh, Chelsey Bourque, of Orlando, Fla., John S. Washington, III, of Windham, Heather Howgate, of East Baldwin, Ethan Fenderson, of East Baldwin, Emily Fenderson, of East Baldwin, Katelyn Bourque, of Waterboro, and Nathan Bourque, of Shapleigh; one great grandchild, Colby Soto, of East Baldwin; and one brother, Stanley McKillop, and his wife, Jean, of Danville, N.H.

At Thomas's request, there will be no formal funeral services.
