A. Lloyd Greene, 78, formerly of Carroll County, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence in Winston Salem, NC. Born December 28, 1935 in New Windsor, he was the son of the late Edith Burrier Greene and D. Paul Greene. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris Pond Greene of Winston Salem, NC. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.|
Before retiring he worked 43 years for Sire Power as a technician and trainer across the United States and abroad. He received many awards throughout his career. He and his wife were the innkeepers at Bowling Brook and he worked with his son on numerous jobs and fundraising events.
He was a life member of the Westminster Elks Lodge No. 2277, Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381, Littlestown Eagles, charter member of the Valley Lions Club and former member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling to Williamsburg and John Deere collectibles. He loved his new found family and Yorkies in North Carolina.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law David E. Greene, Sr. and wife Kathy of New Windsor, daughters and sons-in-law Suzanne and Jeffery Dell of Hanover, Pa. and Penny and Jeffrey Lessard of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren David E. Greene, Jr., Stacey Hudson, Jennifer Perry, McKinley Dell and Adam Ledbetter. Also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by infant daughter Greene and brothers Rev. D. Paul Greene and James A. Greene.
The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Ceary, of Linwood Brethren Church officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery near Linwood.
