Mr. Alvin Kenneth Quittner, 66, of Lugoff, South Carolina and formerly of Mount Airy, MD, passed away at home from a lengthy illness on Dec. 11, 2013.|
Born September 11, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey, he was an avid horse lover and loved to watch the Baltimore Ravens. He also served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He thoroughly enjoyed eating out at restaurants.
He is survived by two sons, Scott Quittner of Mount Airy, and Justin Quittner and wife Becky of Mount Airy; stepgrandchildren Kyle and Miranda Speck of Mt. Airy; brother Marvin Quittner and wife Shelly of Plantation, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Quittner, his mother, Dorothy Quittner, and his twin brother and best friend, Ira Quittner.
A committal service will be held on Sunday, December 15th at 12 Noon at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service. Foot procession and interment with military honors will take place in the Veterans Garden of Honor II at Resthaven.
