E. Michael August of Southbury, CT and Frederick, MD died suddenly on November 21, 2012 in Ellicott City, Maryland.|
He was born on July 16, 1958 to the late Marvin and Betty August in Illinois.
He was raised in Maryland graduating from Frederick Douglas High school in 1976 and George Washington University in 1980. He obtained a doctorate in bio-chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1985.
Dr. August completed a post doctoral fellowship at Yale and was employed by the National Cancer Institute, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals and two other biotechnology firms during his career. At the time of his death, he was employed by SAIC in Frederick as Senior Scientist and Head of the Target Validation and Screening Laboratory of the National Cancer Institute in Frederick.
Mike was a talented musician, chef and baker who enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.
He leaves behind his son and daughter, Cameron and Micaela August, son-in-law Michael Habib, loving partner Doris Lefkowitz (and her chil- dren), stepmother Jane August and former wife Elizabeth August and many friends and colleagues.
He was predeceased by his parents and maternal grandmother Mildred Groves.
Michael's families will be receiving visitors at the Lefkowitz family home in Ellicott City between 1 and 4 on the afternoon of December 5.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at St. Barnabas Church in Temple Hills Maryland at 10 am.
