Mr. Harry Lorraine "Rainey" Huffer, 91, of Rosemont, MD entered into rest on Friday March 21, 2014 at the VA Center of Martinsburg, WV. He was the loving husband of 58 years to the late Marie Elizabeth Kidwiler Huffer and the loving father and good friend to many. Born on January 7, 1923 in Burkittsville, MD he was the son of the late Harry Russell Huffer and Annie May Remsburg Huffer. Harry "Rainey" was a graduate of Brunswick High School in 1941. Rainey, as known to most, served in the United States Navy during WWII as a fighter pilot. He retired from the B&O Railroad in Brunswick after 41 years of service in 1987 where he worked as a "Yard Master" with previous jobs there such as a Fireman, Brakeman, Conductor and Yard Foreman. Rainey was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and a past master of Brunswick Masonic Lodge 191. He was an original member of the Brunswick Lions Club. He also belonged to the VFW, American Legion and the Eastern Star. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by his children, a daughter Vicki L. Huffer Sowers and husband Michael of Ranson, WV and a son David A. Huffer and wife Catherine of Brunswick. Grand children, Craig Sowers and wife Kate of Wernersville, PA and Kimberly Sowers Robinson and husband Jon David of Frederick. In addition he is survived by five great grandchildren Aiden and Riley Sowers, Miranda and Samantha Huffer of Lovettsville, VA and Carter Robinson. He was preceded in death by his wife and several siblings, four brothers, Paul, Hayes "Jim", Ivan "Bucky", Howard "Red" and three sisters, Evelyn, Maxine and Jessee. He will be remembered fondly by many close friends and family. He loved to garden, golf, hunt, fish, watch and play baseball. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 27, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm where a Masonic service will take place at 7:30 pm at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick MD 21716. The family will receive friends at 11 am Friday March 28, 2014 at the New Hope United Methodist Church, 7 South Maryland Ave., Brunswick where a memorial service will be held. A private inurnment will follow at 3 pm at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Frederick MD. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the Bonnie Blink, Masonic Home, 300 International Circle, Cockeysville, MD 21030. Professional services have been provided by the John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.
