Leonard Franklin "Lenny" Umbaugh Obituary
Leonard Franklin (Lenny) Umbaugh was born on September 30, 1937 in Brunswick, MD to the parents of the late Leonard Franklin Umbaugh of Lovettsville, VA, and Lillie Mae Myers Adams of Knoxville, MD. He died on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home. Leonard leaves behind his very devoted, loving and caring wife Ann Keller Umbaugh. Leonard graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1956. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was an ironworker and retired from Ironworkers Local #5 in 2000. He was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Club in Brunswick, MD; he was also a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Lenny enjoyed traveling, camping, and woodworking. He also enjoyed his family life and family gatherings. Having been the grandfather of four grandsons he was very excited to have a great granddaughter born into the Umbaugh family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Kevin (Nicole); Korinne (Thong); Kristin (Chris); four grandsons, Nick, Joe, Sam, Jack and great granddaughter Isabella. He is also survived by stepchildren: Melissa Wills, Jeffrey Merriman and Jimmy Bowden; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his sister-in-law Linda Balagona of Groveland, IL; Class of 1956 and Class of 1957 friends. Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his first wife Bonnie Huffer Umbaugh. A special thanks to Barbara and Lee DeVoe for their help and fellowship and assistance in Leonard's care; to Dr. Goldstein his oncology doctor; nurses and staff at the Frederick Cancer Center; Hospice of Frederick; and our wonderful neighbors. Words cannot express how grateful we are for everyone's help during the last months of Leonard's life. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 114 East A Street, Brunswick, MD 21716. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to Hospice of Frederick, 516 Trail Avenue, Frederick, MD 21702 or The Food Bank, c/0 Sandra Cox, 111 First Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716.
