Robert L. Hardey, age 90 of Purcellville, Virginia passed away peacefully on

March 2, 2014. He was born on March 29, 1923 in Washington, D.C. to the late James William Stanton Hardey and Estelle Scott Hardey. Robert, or Bob as he was commonly called to those close to him, lived in Washington D.C. throughout his youth graduating from McKinley High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November 1942. After service he attended Georgetown University and worked for The Washington Post for 31 years. He was always happiest at his farm in Lovettsville, VA, and on a tractor. He was an active member of the Parish Family of St. Francis of Assisi/St. Mary in Brunswick and Petersville, Maryland. Bob was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his lovely wife Elizabeth (Betty) Dolorine McCusker Hardey . He is survived by his 6 children, 17 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at the Hall Funeral Home, 140 South Nursery Avenue, Purcellville, VA 20132 on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4231 Catholic Church Road, Knoxville, MD, with interment in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
