Carl, of Kingsburg, CA, was born on April 29, 1948 in Wilmer, MN to Chester "Ace" Hoberg and Buernice (Orvik) Hoberg. He died on July 29, 2014. He was a military veteran serving in the US Army as a Combat Engineer in Vietnam and received an Honorable Discharge as a Sgt./NCO. Carl's hobbies included: fishing, camping, riding his Harley Davidson, dirt bike riding, traveling, painting, a Fresno State Bulldog fan and enjoying his wife Susie's band concerts. His community activities included Harley Owners Group Director and Road Captain in Ridgecrest, CA, VFW Post 6152 (Life Member), California Teachers Association and National educators of America. He received a BA Degree from San Diego State University with honors in 1973. His MA Degree from California State University, San Bernadino in 1990, Secondary Teaching Credential in 1974 and California Community College Credential in 1981. He was employed as an Art Teacher and Coach at Trona Joint Unified School District from 1974-2008, and a resident of Ridgecrest, CA for 35 years. Carl's special achievements were Outstanding Alumni Award CSUSB 2001, Numerous Teaching Awards including Above and Beyond Student Activities Booster Club, Who's Who among America's Teachers, and Dedicated Service Award to Community and Schools of Trona, CA. Carl is survived by Susie, his wife of two years; son, Carl Robert Hoberg; daughters, Rebecca Ann Longshore and Ashley Rae Hoberg; sister, Marilyn Selvig; mother, Buernice Hoberg; and six grandchildren. A Military Graveside Service will be held at Kingsburg Cemetery on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Special thanks to Kingsburg Fire Department, Ashtree DeVita in Fresno, Optimal Hospice, VA Central California Fresno for all their care during Carl's life.
