Edward "Ed" Fernandes was born on July 10, 1936, and passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. After serving his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp, Ed went to found Western Appraisers Inc. and Western Claims of Fresno. As a young man, Ed's passion for repairing cars and equipment on his family's farm served him well into the future as his knowledge of cars, trucks, trailers and heavy equipment were admired and respected across the industry nationwide. Ed enjoyed staying active, whether it be Little League Coach, Indian Guides and Maidens, Campfire Girls, Gyro's, or the NTHECC, he always stayed busy. Ed loved meeting people and making new friends, his wonderful sense of humor and big smile will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Pacific Gardens, for all their care and support over the last few months. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Fernandes; daughter, Julie Irwin and her husband Jack; sons, Edward Fernandes Jr. and his wife Patricia, and Ron Fernandes. Ed also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Velma Perry; five grandchildren, Edward and Michael Fernandes, and Jessica, Jillian, and Jennifer Irwin. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 E. Barstow Avenue, Fresno, CA on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the donor's
