Frank Nii, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2014. Born on February 26, 1926, Frank spent most of his life in Dinuba with the exception of time spent in the Poston III Internment Camp in Arizona, working briefly in Chicago, and serving in the U.S. Navy. Prior to retiring in 1982, he was an insurance salesman for more than 18 years and managed a local grocery store. Frank was also active in his community, serving as President of the Dinuba Buddhist Church for multiple years and as a member of the Dinuba Elementary School Board. His passions included his family, religion, Giants, 49ers and Fresno State Bulldogs. Above all, he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and participate in their special school activities like Grandparents' Day. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Goichi and Yuzuko Nii; and brothers, Harry, Kazuo and George. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 56 years; children, Robert, and Brad and his wife Deanne; grandchildren, Jared and Jason; brother, Ted and wife Mary; sister, Akiko Hamlin and husband Barry; and many nieces and nephews.
