John T. Voss, age 81, passed away on April 25, 2014, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born on December 15, 1932, in Checotah, OK. His parents, Lester and Sarah Voss, moved to Madera when John was ten years old. He graduated from Madera High School in 1951 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from Fresno State University. He later earned a Master's of Science degree in Public Administration from Michigan State University. John was a veteran of the Korean war. In 1957, John joined the California Highway Patrol and promoted through the ranks achieving the final position of Deputy Chief. He retired from the CHP after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Bob Voss. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly; daughter, Sheila Zangrilli; son, Mark Voss; sister, Linda Perry and her husband Mike; four granddaughters; and one great granddaughter. A Memorial Service will be held at the New Harvest Church, 698 N. Minnewawa in Clovis on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to The CAHP Widows and Orphans Trust Fund; St. Agnes Hospice; or the donor's favorite charity.
