"Tony" Romo age 91, of Fresno, died on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born to the late Gunderico and Eva Romo, August 7, 1922, in San Francisco, California. He relocated to Fresno in the 1930's. Tony was a Veteran of the Greatest Generation. He served three years in the 39th Engineer Corps Regiment in the United States Army. He was wounded in action during the Italian Campaign. He was honorably discharged from military service with 2 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart. After the service Tony came home to work alongside his father and together they developed Romo Auto Wrecking. The wrecking yard was one of the biggest and oldest in Fresno but after 80 years in operation it fell on hard times as city growth and development uninvited the business and it was forced to close in 2004. Tony and his father were both passionate about their business and their customers. He was preceded in death by Margaret, his wife of 65 years; daughter Rosalie; and sister, Ann McKay. Tony is survived by his children and their spouses, Ray and his wife Grace, Raul and his wife Susan, Ronald and his wife Myra, Ruben and his wife Patty, Rebecca and her husband Jesus Sepulveda and Rhonda and her husband Alberto Vasquez; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
