Mason Edward Collins passed away due to complications from advanced Parkinson disease at his home in Friendswood, Texas on Sunday, August 25th, 2013 at the age of 75.
Mason is predeceased by his parents, Orie Arthur and Lera Lucille Collins, and his brother, Gordon Collins.
Mason is survived by his loving wife Agnes Ann of 51 years. They were married in Alexandria, Virginia on May 5, 1962.
Mason is lovingly remembered by his wife Ann of Friendswood; brother Arthur Collins of San Antonio, TX; sister Elnor Garcia of Angleton, TX; sister Carol Cass of Cedartown Ga; daughter Dawn Coe and husband David of Friendswood, TX; daughter Diana Collins of Brownwood, TX; son Mark Collins of Houston, TX; 5 granddaughters, and other relatives.
Mason was born in Palacios, TX on September11, 1937. He graduated from Alvin High School in Alvin, TX in 1955. During his senior year he received All County Tackle recognition and a one-year football scholarship to the University of Texas. Mason completed his education with the help of the ROTC program and graduated from the University of Texas in 1961 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant in 1963. Mason worked 25 years for Rohm and Haas as an electrical power distribution engineer before retiring in 1998 at age 61. He was an avid Longhorn football fan, a member of the Anthroposophical Society in America, and active in the Christian Community Church. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at the Alvin Senior Center, 309 West Sealy, Alvin, TX 77511 on Saturday, October 5th at 2:00 pm. with nephew Rev. Wayne Collins officiating.
