Russell Ervin Watson, 92, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 Houston, TX. He was born on December 7, 1920 to Otis Courtney and Shirley Chloe Hillenberg Watson in Bedford, IN.

He was a graduate of Needmore High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and his Master's degree from Indiana State University. Russell was a WWII Veteran with the United States Navy, a Pearl Harbor survivor, Monroe County Fair Board emeritus member, and retired educator with the Monroe County Community School Corp. Russell served his family, friends, and community throughout his life, and Mt. Pleasant Christian Church was his faith home. Important in his life was time for fishing and time to tell a good story. Russell blessed others by never meeting a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred (McPike) Watson.

Russell is survived by daughter, Rebecca Watson Hillenburg and husband Roy; grandson, Russell Hillenburg and wife Mary Beth; great grandchildren, Austin Russell Hillenburg and Grace Rebecca Hillenburg; sister, Maralou Watson Walton and husband Jay, many nieces and nephews; plus a host of other loving family and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Mt Pleasant Christian Church near Bedford, IN. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd 37 in Bloomington, IN (812) 824-5905 on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Friday one hour preceding the services.
