Wilma Charos
July 11, 1935 - December 5, 2013

Bernice "Wilma" Charos, age 78, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, in Grand Junction, Colorado, under Hospice Care. Wilma courageously fought, with immeasurable strength, health issue she was called to endure. She was a breast cancer survivor, and never feared, as she knew the Lord was with her always.
Wilma was born on July 11, 1935, in Blanca, Colorado, to Burl W. and Ione Robinson. She grew up and received her education in the San Luis Valley graduating in 1954 from Mosca High School, in Mosca, Colorado.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Harry, of the family home,; Tim (Yvette) Cooley, Monte Vista, Colorado; Kim (DeeAnn) Cooley, Alamosa, Colorado; James (Donna) Cooley, Mosca, Colorado, and Deborah Cooley of Grand Junction, Colorado. Wilma was blessed with eight grandchildren, Kamie, Lacey, Marcie, Chance, JJ, Colton, Cory, and Karleigh, and one great-granddaughter, Leni Rae. Wilma is survived by one brother, Curtis (Rose) Robinson, Montrose, Colorado, and one sister, Donna (Keith) Catlin, Montrose, Colorado, and many treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Ione Robinson; one sister, Mary Lee Smith; one brother, Wesley Robinson, and Art Cooley, the father of her children.
Wilma loved spending time with her family. She especially loved hearing of her grandchildren's activities and watching their sporting events. Wilma touched the lives of many children over a period of more than 20 years by opening her home to daycare. The collage of pictures that forever decorated her refrigerator door are testament of her unconditional love for children. Wilma was a "grandmother" to many.
She had a passion for the outdoors and loved animals. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful roses. She found great reward in sharing her canned salsa, jellies, and fresh cut roses with family and friends. Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and her memory will be forever present in the hearts of many.
There will be a Celebration of Wilma's Life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice, c/o HopeWest Care Center, 3090B North 12th, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81506, in memory of Wilma Charos.
