Bonnie R. Carter
July 10, 1928 - March 4, 2014
Bonnie R. Carter, 85, passed away on March 4, 2014.
She was born July 10, 1928 on the Hayes Ranch, Diamond Fork Canyon, Utah to Lorenzo Dow Reed & Damerus Hayes. Raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, and Burbank, California, she earned a bachelor's (UCLA) and master's (CalStateLA). In 1952 she married Ralph Gonzales and they taught in Apple Valley, CA. She loved teaching, became an assistant principal and blessed the lives of many students. Ralph passed away in 1976. In 1976 Bonnie married George "Nick" Carter, who passed in 1977.
Later, she retired to Grand Junction and dug dinosaurs, literally, for 28 years with the Museum of Western Colorado and other museums. She traveled the world. An avid scuba diver and motorcyclist, she toured Mexico, the U.S., and Canada on a mauve Gold Wing. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, her kindness and generosity blessed many. She provided financial and other support to service organizations, families, missionaries, and individuals. Her life on this earth was one of service and joy.
Burial at 11 a.m. March 8 at the Orem Cemetery, Orem, Utah. Online condolences at
