Jon Reed Hiebert
July 10, 1938 - January 21, 2014

Jon Reed Hiebert, 75, passed away January 21, 2014, at HopeWest Care Center after a brief bout with pancreatic cancer.
Jon was born July 10, 1938, to Hailey and Madge (Reed) Hiebert at the old St. Mary's Hospital on Colorado Avenue. He attended schools in Colorado and California including schools in Appleton and Orchard Mesa, and then Grand Junction Junior High. He worked in his parent's store, the Overpass, in Clifton while growing up. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1957, and attended electronics school in Denver.
When he returned to Grand Junction he went to work for Milton W. "Red" Crawford repairing car radios and televisions. Red moved into a new building on South 14th Street selling, servicing, and repairing two-way radios. Jon and former classmate Don Wright bought the business in 1977.
Jon served active duty in the U.S. Army for six months and in the Army Reserves for six years. He enjoyed electronics, science, traveling, camping, bowling, golf, walking and spending time with family and friends. He was also Outstanding and an active member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge (BPOE).
Jon met his life-long love, Carol Anderson, in early 1960 when both enjoyed soup for lunch at the old Manhattan Cafe in downtown Grand Junction. They married September 16, 1961, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Palisade. They had three sons, Brian (Cheryl) of Grand Junction; Steven (Kim) of Falcon, and Eric (Raelyn) of Rifle. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Harrison Hiebert, Hadley Hiebert, and Tianna Berbert. In addition, Jon is survived by a brother, Joel (Barbara) of Manassas, Virginia; cousin, Larry (Linda) Reed of Grand Junction; cousin, Betty Sue (Jack) Edling of Canon City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 24, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, at 3:00 p.m.
