Robert M. Ross June 10, 1927 - May 16, 2013 Robert M. Ross, Jr., died on Thursday, May 16, at his home in Vintage 70 after a long illness. He was born June 10, 1927, in Celina, Ohio, graduated from public high school, and spent two years as a Merchant Marine Cadet. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from McGill University. In 1953, he married Emilie Jean Winkeljohn, also of Celina. Bob completed his internship and residency in Cleveland. He then served in the Army as a pediatrician on Governor's Island, New York, for two years. In 1960, he opened a pediatric office in a small white house at 7th and Belford in Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1972, he became the Medical Director of a University of Rochester - affiliated clinic in Sodus, New York. He returned to Grand Junction in 1975 as the Medical Director of the local HMO. He retired in Grand Junction after serving as the Medical Director of the University of Massachusetts - affiliated Tri-River Health Center in Uxbridge from 1978 to 1991. That job encompassed his professional interests: teaching, administration, and above all, patient care. In later years, he enjoyed bicycling with Cycle America, and he became an avid gardener, specializing in parsnips. Bob was a soft-spoken, thoughtful, and humble man, with a wonderful sense of humor. Emilie survives as does their daughter, Sarah Ross Maguffee, her husband, Paul, and their sons, William and Adam, of Columbia, Missouri. Bob's parents and brother, Charles, are deceased. At Bob's request, there will be no memorial service locally. Burial of his ashes will be in the Ross family plot in Celina. Memorial donations are at the discretion of the donor.
