Berrey Inskeep passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the age of 93 years. He lived in Green Valley since September 1986. He was preceded in death in 1998 by Phyllis, his wife of 52 years, by his son Bradley in 1994 and earlier by his mother, father and two brothers.
Berrey was born on November 12, 1920, in Wayne County, Illinois, in the town of Fairfield to William B. and Nona Inskeep. He attended the Fairfield schools and graduated from high school in 1939. He then attended the University of Illinois and the University of Missouri for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Naval Air Corps for flight training. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant.
Berrey and Phyllis Greenwalt from Olney, Illinois, ere married in February of 1946. After discharge from the Navy, Berrey attended the University of Illinois where he received a degree in Business Administration. While there, he was a flight instructor at the university. After graduation, he joined Addressograph-Multigraph Corp. and retired from there after thirty years. He served in various capacities as salesman and branch manager in Chicago, Muncie, Indiana; Springfield, Illinois; Cleveland, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
He retired in 1977 and moved with his wife to Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1986 they later moved to Green Valley, Arizona. He spent the rest of his life in the Green Valley area playing golf and enjoying his many friends and activities.
He is survived by his nieces, Carol Goldblatt (Myron) and Jeanne Harlan (Sid) and their families; by his inlaws, Bob and Jeanne Greenwalt and their families; and by Pat Ehrhart, his longtime companion and her family, Mike (Greta), Susan, John (Nelly), Doug and Judy.
During his life Berrey was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield and Springfield, Illinois, and the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. He was active as a Mason, a Shriner, a Kiwanian and an Elk in Lodge 2592 in Green Valley.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Green Valley Mortuary on Monday, May 19th at 2 p.m. with his nephew Pastor Nicholas Greenwalt officiating. Berrey will be cremated and join his wife and son at the Valley Presbyterian Church Colmbarium. It is requested there be no flowers. Any donations may be made to the
