GEORGE MEANS SR.

George E. Means, Sr. was born in Washington, Iowa in 1916. A kind and loving man, honesty and integrity were his greatest virtues.

George graduated from the University of Iowa in 1938 and served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was married for almost 74 years to the love of his life, Rosella Brinning, who survives, and a son, G. Edward Means and wife Rosalinda of Denver, Colo., and 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Margaret Bell, and a dear daughter, Barbara Jo Haddock.

For 40 years he was a successful business man in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where he had a Consumer Loan and Insurance business. He was very civic minded -"" secretary of the Iowa Consumer Loan Assoc., president of Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Hospital Board and Methodist retirement homes in Washington and Des Moines, Iowa.

He always said, "If you are lonely and sad and sick at heart, laugh at all the things we used to do, miss me but let me go."

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 7, at the Madera Room in La Posada at 2 to 4 p.m.
