ALICE LUCILLE LUNSFORD
St. Augustine, FL - Alice Lucille Lunsford Esposito passed away April 13, 2013, in St. Augustine, FL. She was born in Jacksonville, FL, November 1, 1929, the only child of Alec and Lucille Lunsford. In 1947, Alice graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and married high school sweetheart and returning WWII Vet Rocco Esposito.
In 1951 Rocco and Alice relocated to Gainesville, FL as students at the University of Florida and remained Gator fans ever since. Alice earned both a BS and Masters in Education at UF and for nearly 30 years taught in Alachua County secondary schools. As a devoted Cooperative Business Education teacher and club sponsor, "Mrs. Espo" positively influenced hundreds of young women.
In addition, Alice worked with her husband to plan, build, and manage two successful mobile home parks in Gainesville: Town and Country on Archer Road and Alamar Gardens on Southwest 20th Avenue. This "second career" continued long past her retirement from teaching.
In the 70's and 80's Alice and Rocco organized and hosted regular introductory tours to Europe, and Alice became an informative guide on European capitals.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Rocco Esposito of Gainesville, FL; three children: Rocco (wife Susan) Esposito Jr. of Gainesville; Darla Dee (Don) Turlington of Palm Coast, FL; and Kevin Dwayne Esposito of Gainesville; three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Steve) Lambert-Oswald of Tampa, FL; Rocco Esposito III of Gainesville; and Ralph Donald Turlington III of Palm Coast; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be no immediate service, but a celebration of life will be scheduled in the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in memory of Alice Esposito to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
