Gainesville - Beverly Lee "BL" Burton, 94, of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. BL was born in Macon, Georgia and moved to Gainesville in 1928 from Macon. He was a GHS graduate, attended the University of Florida in Forestry, and enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the start of WWII. He was a very proud D-day veteran. Later he married the love of his life and owned Stop and Shop Grocery Store in Gainesville. He was a founding member of the local D-day Veterans Group and of the Gainesville Has Beens, and was an avid Gator fan.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Maxine Graf Burton; 4 children Phyllis (Richard) Cialona, James (Linda) Burton, Susan Jerry, and Jeanne (David) Karably; 5 grandchildren Kathy Bruce, Brenda Bruce, Kirk Jerry, Ryan Jerry, and Hannah Karably, and 2 great grandchildren Tyler Perkins and Tim Perkins.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 23, at Milam Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville with calling hours one hour prior. Burial will follow at Hawthorne Cemetery.
