Gainesville - Bruce Stephen Chappell passed away on March 13th, 2014 at Hospice in Gainesville, FL at the age of 66.

Bruce was born in Gainesville, FL on August 5, 1947. He graduated from Gainesville High School, class of 1965. He received both his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Florida. Bruce served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He was employed by the University of Florida as an archivist with The Department of Special Collections for over thirty-five years. He was passionate about history and Latin-American studies and he cherished his role as an archivist.

Bruce is survived by Carmen Yglesias and Laura Melo Chappell. He is also survived by three children, Jorge Emiliano Chappell 44, Laura Cristina Tanner 40, and Sare Elena Ratelle 33; and four grandchildren, Courtney Morgan Chappell, Benjamin Cooper Lawrence, Kyle Stephen Chappell and Maxwell Severino Tanner.
