CAROL ALBERT, 81

Carol Albert "CA" Maurer, 81, of Owensboro, went to be with Jesus on March 1, 2014. He was born August 25, 1932 in Tell City, IN to the late Albert "Dutch" and Ida Sandage Maurer. C.A. was a member of Masonville United Methodist Church. He was a past-master of Utica Masonic Lodge #742. C.A. was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Niobrara of the Atlantic Fleet and the carrier, USS Wright of the Pacific Fleet where he participated in an underwater atomic bomb test in 1955. He was retired from GE with 34 years having worked in Owensboro, Tell City and Gainesville, FL plants. He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Crawford and Margaret Mehling.

Surviving are his best friend and loving wife, of 41 years, Donna Coffey Maurer of Owensboro; children, Cheryl (Mark) Zellers of Tell City, Kimberly (John) Jennings of Spencer County, IN, Jeffrey (Janelle) Maurer of Newburgh, IN, step-daughter, Natalie (Truitt) Powell of Pontotoc, MS, and step-son, Danny (Mary Ann) Lester of Portage, IN; grandchildren, Brandy, John, Cherie, Josh, Drew, Jeremiah, Krista, Cynthia, Emily and Brittany; 9 great grandchildren and a nephew, Mike Mehling.

Services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Glenn Cox presiding. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Masonville U.MC. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
