Gainesville - Christine Smith Hale-Pettry, age 81, passed away at the Village Retirement Community in Gainesville, FL on April 27, 2014.

Ms. Hale-Pettry was born in Macclenny, FL on October 14, 1932, to Albert and Dorothy Smith. She married John P. Hale, Sr. and they resided in Worthington Springs, Santa Fe and High Springs, FL. Following the death of her husband, she married Donald B. Pettry, and they lived in Marietta, GA for a short time, and then Gainesville, FL. Ms. Hale-Pettry was a school teacher and librarian.

Ms. Hale-Pettry was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her children, Debra Hale Hatch and her husband Lee, of Branford, FL; a son, Tommy Hale and his wife Kelly, of Valrico, FL, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Hale, of Newberry, FL; eight grandchildren, Erika Hale Dudley (Bo), Kristi Hale, Cheltse Hale Quinn (Travis), Dupree Hatch (Brittney), Emilee Hatch Rains (Andrew), Kemi Hatch Jackson (Seth), Tom Hale and Amanda Hale; six great-grandchildren, Holland Jackson, Peyton Dudley, Gracyn Dudley, Miles Jackson, Drew Hatch and Walker Rains. She was preceded in death, by her husband, John P. Hale, Sr., her son, John P. Hale, Jr., and her husband, Donald B. Pettry.

Funeral services for Ms. Hale-Pettry, will be held at High Springs Church of Christ on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm, with funeral services following at 4pm. Graveside services to follow. If you choose to donate, in lieu of flowers, please contribute to Florida Bible Camp, checks made to High Springs Church of Christ for Florida Bible Camp, PO Box 9, High Springs, FL 32655.
