Gainesville - Carl Charles Bernard Daquila, 86, passed away on December 30, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville. Mr. Daquila was born in Queens, NY and lived in Gainesville for 54 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, a WWII Veteran of the US Army 1st Division; retired major in the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary; and retired as a self-employed mechanic after 30 years in Gainesville.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Veronica; children Bernard (Deb), Maura, Veronica and Kathleen (Ric) Carden of Jupiter; grandchildren Pam (Bill) Jobert of Mason, OH, David (Scottie), Brittany, Julie (Keith) Collier of Palatka, and Andy Carden of Jupiter, great grandchildren Natalee, Emma, and Olivia Jobert, Claire Daquila, Ashton, Emily and Abi Collier.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Father Roland Julien as Celebrant. A private interment will be held on a later date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
