STERLING, DOROTHY COX
Dorothy Cox Sterling, passed December 9, 2012 Dorothy was born in Kingman, Indiana on March 8, 1920. She attended Ohio State University and graduated in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She also received a Master's Degree from Duke University in Religious Education.
During World War II she married Robert Sterling. After the war two sons were born. Timothy Robert Sterling and Jeffrey Wayne Sterling. Eventually, Rebecca Lyn Sterling, her granddaughter, was born.
Dot taught at Littlewood Elementary and then at PK Yonge Laboratory School. At P.K. she was a coordinator of the "Follow Through Research Development Program."
Later on she became a potter. She taught clay work at the Craft Center at the University of Florida. She traveled to workshops, including one in Japan, and pottery shows and was a member of the Artisans' Guild.
Her dear friends at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church were Dot's family including Murray Lasley and his daughters, Susan and Marion. Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made to Holy Trinity Church or Holy Trinity Child Caring Center, 100 NE 1st Street, Gainesville, Florida 32601.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 NE 1st Street, Gainesville, Florida.
