HOFFMAN, EMMA POWELL
Largo, FL - Emma Powell Hoffman, 97, of Largo, Florida passed away September 13, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 16, 1915 in Moorestown, New Jersey. She, her husband and daughter moved to Gainesville in 1950 and became active members of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. While in Gainesville, she completed a 17 year career as an Administrative Assistant to the University of Florida Director of the Physical Plant. She and her husband also founded and ran The Pinewood School in Gainesville. They moved to Pinellas County in 1969 where she completed a 17 year career as a teacher in the Clearwater High School Adult Education Program along with her husband. Her educational achievements included becoming the 1932 Moorestown High School valedictorian, attending Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., graduating from Pierce Business College in Philadelphia, Pa. and graduating from Montclair State Teacher's College in Montclair, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Earl Samuel Hoffman (married June 21, 1941), her brother Wilkins R. Powell and her baby grandson Wesley Peter Kulpa, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean Kulpa (Wesley), grandchildren Emily Anna Kulpa and Earl Albert Kulpa (Tara), great grandchild Madison "Maddie" Michelle Kulpa and one very beloved pet "Red", all of Bartow, Florida; 2 nieces, 2 nephews and several cousins. Emma very much enjoyed keeping in touch with family, friends and former colleagues from days gone by and remained a faithful Florida Gator fan to the end. She was interred on October 15th at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida alongside her husband, who served in the Army during WWII. Condolences may be sent to email@example.com.
