John William "Bill" Caffey Jr. MD died Saturday morning January 12, 2013 in Gainesville, FL. He was born Sept. 29, 1927 in Mooresville, NC and raised in Greensboro, NC. He served in the US Army after high school and graduated from Duke University, undergraduate and College of Medicine (1953). He completed his medical residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He practiced anesthesiology at a number of hospitals in Jacksonville, FL mainly at Baptist Medical Center for more than 30 years, followed by several more years at the Jacksonville Surgery Center.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clotiel Moody Caffey, whom he married January 13, 1964, sister Mary "Muff" Caffey Harner, Travelers Rest, SC, daughter Katie Jean Eberly (Joe), sons Daniel C. McMillan (Rosa) and John "Jay" W. Caffey III (Pat) Jacksonville, FL, and grandchildren Pauli Catanese (Drew), Sam Horovitz, Michelle McMillan, and Lauren Larsen (Jeremy), Jason and Kyle Caffey and two great-grandchildren, Isabel & Gemma Catanese.

He and Clotiel moved to the retirement community Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

A private family memorial service will be held at Oak Hammock 5:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2013.
