Robert Hopper, born April 6, 1961 in Paterson, New Jersey passed away October 2, 2012 at his home in Gainesville, Florida. Robert known to his friends and family as "Bob", proudly served on the USS Dahlgren in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982. He recently retired from the University of Florida where he was employed as a Refrigeration Mechanic.

Bob was an avid Notre Dame and New York Giants football-fan, and enjoyed listening to music of all kinds. He was a kind and compassionate and loyal friend to his two companion pups, Pumpkin and Precious.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, William Hopper, Sr. and survived by loving mother Jean Hopper of Interlachen, Florida. He is also survived by brothers William Hopper, Jr. of Citra, Florida and Richard Hopper, of Gainesville, Florida; sisters Jeannie Hopper-Harris of Interlachen, Florida, and Debbie Hopper-Bishop, of Orange Springs, Florida. Bob was uncle and friend to Nichole Harris-Morris, Katie Harris-Messina and Jake Harris, brothers-in-law Jeff Harris and Kevin Bishop and sister in-law, Judy Hopper. He is also loved by his great niece Kaylee Pascal and great nephews, Elijah and Liam Messina.

Although it is difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort us tomorrow.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in Bob's memory at a later date.
