STEWART, ROBERT MILLER

Gainesville - Robert Miller Stewart was born October 18, 1922 in Sharpsville, PA to Ruth (Shannon) and Charles Sumner Stewart, Jr. He died January 9, age 90, at his home in Gainesville, Florida.

He was a Veteran of World War II, a sergeant in the Army Signal Corps as a cryptanalyst. He was an Episcopalian member having sung in the All Boys Choir when young. He also was involved in the Kiwanis Club and Masonic Lodge in earlier years.

Dr. Stewart graduated from Bowling Green State University, later attaining his doctorate degree from UCLA. He went on to become Dean of Students and Vice President at Westminster College (UT), Dean of Students at Glassboro State College (NJ) and Montgomery College (MD).

Dr. Stewart is survived by Carol (Marti) his wife of 59 years, six children: Becky (Tom) Moon, Susan (David) Bowles, Scott Stewart, Bob Stewart, Laurie (Tupper) MacDowell and Rachel Anne (Jeff) Ryckert, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the friends and helpful, caring staff at Jasmine Pointe in the Village and to all the compassionate workers from Hospice.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.
