Born on January 4, 1955 in Brooklyn New York died July 2, 2013 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida after a courageous seven and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Susan was a long time resident of Gainesville. She was a bookkeeper for many private businesses here in Gainesville. Susan had many passions including history, travel, reading, gardening, education and physical health. Susan home-schooled her daughter Samantha from 3rd grade through high school and was very involved in the home-schooling community here in Gainesville. Her deepest wish was to have her daughter complete her education and on May 5, 2013, Samantha graduated from the University of Florida with honors "Promise Kept". Susan was well known at the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center where she continued to work out several times weekly throughout her illness.
She loved her spin class most of all and felt nurtured and loved by her fellow spinners. Susan was diagnosed with ovarian cancer seven and a half years ago.
During her treatment she discovered she had the BRCA 2 gene. She defied all odds and showed courage and dignity throughout her treatments. She was a wife to Michael Wright and a mother to Samantha Wright and a loving and loyal friend to so many. She loved and was loved unconditionally by everyone that knew her. She never met a stranger and lived every second of every minute before, during and after cancer. Susan Wright's life on this earth will not be defined by the cancer that killed her but rather by the courage she showed in her determination to conquer the enemy inside her. She was at times a guinea pig for science and at all times a force behind the fight against ovarian cancer. She was married to the love of her life, Michael Wright for 36 Years and is survived by him and what was her greatest joy in life, their daughter, Samantha Wright 21.
A memorial Service will be held at 2pm Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Creekside Community Church located at 2640 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville Florida. The Family request that expressions of sympathy be made to Gainesville Community Ministry at 238 SW 4th Avenue, Gainesville, Fla.
