THOMAS B., JR., 88

High Springs - Thomas B. Massie, Jr., age 88 of High Springs, Florida passed away in Gainesville, Florida on Sunday, July 21, 2013. He was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Hamlin Constance Massie and Thomas Bruce Massie on November 17, 1924.

He grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and after graduating from Leon High School he joined the United States Navy and proudly served as an Aviation Radioman in World War II. He attended the University of Florida and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Tom was a dedicated office manager for 35 years at Carlos M. Hope Electric Company.

Tom's creativity was limitless and his ability to transform an ordinary piece of wood into something of beauty was his passion. He took up bird watching and shared his joy of it with his family. Tom was a man of integrity and honor. He loved his country but most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren with unwavering devotion.

Preceded in death by his son Bruce Massie and his sister Joan Flynn.

Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Massie, his 3 daughters, Lee Jones and her husband Steve Jones of Tampa, Florida, Elaine Harris of Mill Valley, California and Delia Lander and her husband Mark Lander of High Springs, Florida and 7 grandchildren, Evan Jones, Dylan Jones, Stephan Jones, Haley Harris, Jack Harris, Caitlin Lander and Kyle Lander.

There will be a visitation Wednesday evening 5:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at the Milam Funeral Home Chapel.
