Gainesville - Elder Willie L. Pinkney, Sr. was born to the late George & Lizzie Pinkney. Reared in the Fairbanks area, he attended Lincoln High School and retired form the University of Florida as a master plumber. He was the Chaplain on Staff at Pinkney-Smith Funeral Homes, Inc. He peacefully departed this earthly life on April 9, 2014.
Preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Turner and Dorothy Dexter. Precious memories remains in the hearts of 7 children, Wanda (Bernard) Ellerbe, Darlene Foreman, Sandra (Timothy) Thomas, Earlene (Gary) Calhoun, Sylvia White, Willie L. Pinkney, Jr. and Marcus L. Pinkney, all of Gainesville, FL; 2 brothers, George L. Pinkney, Jr., Hawthorne, FL and John L. (Jeanette) Pinkney, Gainesville, FL; 30 grands, 26 great-grands, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Home Going Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Upper Room Church Of God In Christ,3575 NE 15 St., Gainesville, FL, Pastor Pearlie Shelton and Pastor Karl Anderson are Co Pastors. Pastor Marcus L. Pinkney (son) is Eulogist. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gainesville, FL. Viewing at PINKNEY-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 727 NW 2ND ST., GAINESVILLE, Friday, April 18, 2014, 2-7 p.m. Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Viewing Saturday at Upper Room C.O.G.I.C. 10-11 a.m. No viewing after eulogy.
