Jimmy's circle of life ended on September 24, 2013 after a long struggle with Heart Disease. He was born on December 11, 1938 in Memphis, TN and moved to Columbia, SC as a young man. He graduated from Brooklyn-Cayce High School. Upon completion, he immediately joined the United States Navy, where he served for four years. After returning to Columbia, he soon met and married Sinoma. Two years later, with son Todd in tow, they moved to Gainesville. Jim was an HVAC contractor and early on worked for Fair and Son's, then Smith and company. In 1978 he launched Weather Control. INC and turned it into a very successful business. A few years later he opened Water World Dive Center along with a friend.

His interests were wide and varied. He loved the outdoors and all it had to offer and never did anything half measure. He wanted to dive...he opened a dive shop! He wanted to plant pine trees.... he bought 80 acres and planted and hunted. He loved the water and he bought a place on the Suwannee River at the mouth and he fished! He was a Man's Man and a sportsman extraordinar.

Jim served on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Gainesville, The Suwannee Water and Sewer Board, and the Suwannee Chamber of Commerce.

Jimmy was predeceased by his father, James Calvin Brown, mother, Costa Handley Brown, brother Calvin Lee Brown and his sister Vicie Lavolia Brown Davis.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sinoma and only son Todd, and many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jimmy was a true patriot and never missed an opportunity to ask The Lord to Bless and watch over those men and women defending our freedom!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in his name to Meridian Healthcare at 4300 SW 13th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608 or to the CICU at 1600 SW Archer Rd., Gainesville, FL 32610.
