La Crosse - Anthony "Spit" Spitaleri, born September 26, 1945, in Andalusia Alabama, a longtime resident of La Crosse, Florida, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Spitaleri, four sons, one daughter, six granddaughters, one grandson, two great-grandsons and one brother, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his father, mother and brother.

He worked in the construction industry all over the United States and many parts of the world, for most of his life and owned a welding company in La Crosse for several years. He also raised, trained and sold Quarter Horses. He was an active member and past Master of Waldo Lodge #10 and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Ocala, Eastern Star.

Spit will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cherished friend, avid gardener, inventor, US Air Force veteran and true cowboy. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we got to spend with him. He touched the lives of everyone he met and he always had laughter and a story to share with them.

In accordance with his wishes, his remains will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial.
