James Hunter Obituary
He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of Carolyn Gwinn Armstrong and the late Frank Nelson Hunter, Jr.
Jimmy worked as a crane operator and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He was a 1971 graduate of South Point High School, served in the U.S. Navy and formerly volunteered with New Hope V.F.D.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lorraine McKinney Hunter of the home; son, Ja-son Allan Hunter and his wife Holly of Salisbury; stepson, Joe Clay of Kings Mountain; brother, Billy Hunter and wife Gaye of Cramerton; sister, Jean Haney and husband Dean of Mt. Holly; brother, Mark Armstrong and wife Melisa of Gastonia; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Eldred Armstrong.
A service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Baptist church with the Rev. Allen Foreman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 201 Oak Trail, Belmont, NC 28012.

Lorraine, this is from Michelle,Cj and James. We are so very very sorry for your loss. Jim was a good man. I am going to miss sitting out in the drive way on Saturday and Sunday morinings and talk about the week he would listen to me vent and ask about james and he would tell me how much he worries about you. You and Jim are like grandparents to me and James and Cj. And its like losing our own grandfather. Our hearts and prayers go out to you Lorraine. We love you so much. If you need us just call or come nock on the door we are always always here for you. We love you.

Lorraine we are so so very sorry for your loss. Jim was like a grandfather to me and James and a great grandfather to our son. Every time I think of coming out on Saturday mornings and Sunday morning's and sitting out in the drive way talking about the week and how he worried about you. He would let me vent about the week and ask how james was doing. The Lord took a good man, but he is in heaven with the good Lord no more worries. My heart goes out too you. If you need anything you call me or come knock on the door. We love you so much you are just like a grandmother to us. We just love you so much and you are in our hearts and prayers.
