Charles "Chuck" Edwin Metrolis, age 73, passed away peacefully on 08 April 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a resident of Colorado for 20 years. Chuck was born in Copiague, NY on February 29, 1940 to the late Frank T. and Harriet L. (Herrold) Metrolis. He spent his formative years in Berks County, Pennsylvania and graduated from Perry Township High School in 1958. Chuck honorably served our nation for over 20 years in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. Chuck was very active with the volunteer fire departments serving Teller and El Paso Counties. Chuck was also an avid fisherman and traveler. He was especially fond of his time at Bitburg Air Base, Germany while serving with the 525th Fighter Squadron, and enjoyed the many reunions he attended with the "Bulldogs". Following his military retirement he worked as an independent contractor on high vacuum furnaces and controls, which culminated with the establishment of his own company, Metro Consulting. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Gayle (Young) Metrolis; two sons: Charles Edwin Metrolis Jr. (Wife, Nikole), and Michael Steele Metrolis. Chuck is also survived by three grandchildren: Brittany Gayle Metrolis, Lauren Raquel Metrolis and Rhianna Gabrielle Metrolis; one brother, Frank Metrolis, and three sisters, Elinor (Metrolis) Snyder, Harriet (Metrolis) Simmons, and Anne (Metrolis) Mays. Funeral services will be held at Harvey Park Christian Church at 3401 S. Lowel Blvd., Denver. Visitation will be held at 10 am with services at 11 am. Entombment with full military honors will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to That Others May Live Foundation, which provided for the families of our fallen Combat Rescue Warriors in the United States Air Force.
