Elgie B. Richards, 85, retired U. S. Air Force Veteran and Civil Services went home to be with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior Saturday, March 8, 2014 with loved ones at his side.

He was born October 1, 1928 in San Jose, Costa Rica to the union of Harold Richards and Maria Luisa (Davy) Richards. His parents preceded him in death.

Elgie was united in Holy Matrimony to Sonja Raveneau at Maquire Air Force Base in New Jersey on April 24, 1961.

Elgie served in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He also served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and was awarded, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Services, National Defense Medal and many more.

He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign War and the American Legion. He enjoyed socializing at the PX Exchange with his military friends and talking about old military stories and spending quality time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years Sona Richards, daughters; Joanne Phelps of Salem Oregon, son; Elgie Jamie Richards of Texarkana, AR, Daughter Celia Whitney, son William Richards both of Colorado Springs, CO, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors located at 1104 S. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, CO with Full Military Honors.
