Roger passed away suddenly at his home on March 17, 2014, at the age of 88. Born in Iowa, he served in the Army in World War II and was a Professor of Microbiology at the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY, before retiring to Colorado Springs.

He is survived by his wife Roshan Christensen and his daughter Sarah J. Christensen, both of Colorado Springs, his son David Christensen and daughter-in-law Ruth Horowitz of Providence, Rhode Island, and his grandchildren, Sophie and Sam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's name to Doctors Without Borders.
