John William McGovern Obituary
John William McGovern, 74, died peacefully on February 1, 2014, surrounded by family at his home in Colorado Springs. John was born May 12, 1939, in Pueblo, Colorado, to William Andrew and Reha (Faricy) McGovern. He is one of four children. John married his wife, Judy, on March 26, 1966. They would have been married 48 years in March 2014.

In 1957, John enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a military firefighter. He then pursued a career in real estate, operating his own business, Fountain City Realty in Pueblo for 18 years. John relocated to Colorado Springs in 1990, where he continued his career in real estate- a career spanning nearly 50 years. He was a member of numerous boards and committees, serving as President of the Board of Realtors. In addition to his work in real estate, John drove the school bus for Colorado Springs School District 11 for 8 years.

John was an avid Broncos fan. He loved classic cars, golfing, CNN, and his dogs. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man, with a lively sense of humor and contagious smile. He was a generous man who gave graciously of his time and belongings.

John is survived by his wife Judy; his children- Karen McGovern, Mike McGovern, Katie & Fernando Flores, and Andrew & Tiffany McGovern; his grandchildren- Zoie, Max, and Miley; his sister-Joan McCullah; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and, his girls- Rosie, Bean, and Midge. He was preceded in death by his parents-William A. and Reha McGovern; his sisters- Mary Georg Rick and Virginia Marie McGovern, and several extended family members.

The Rosary will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 6:30pm at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 North Logan Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80909. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February, 11, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church. Family graveside services will be held in the spring at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo.
