Kathryn Elizabeth Ide Obituary
"Mrs. Ide," as she was known by hundreds of elementary students, died peacefully in her own home Sunday morning after a three-year "battle" with pancreatic cancer. Over those years she enjoyed traveling, volunteering, learning to paint and retired life. She was a mother of three, a friend to many and a teacher to hundreds in her lifetime.

She is survived by her husband Christopher Allen Boerner, 67, her sons David Ide Boerner, 31, Peter Ide Boerner, 30, her daughter Caroline Ide-Boerner Morrison, 27, and her brother Douglas Cameron Ide, 68. She is preceded in death by her mother Kathryn Elizabeth Ide, father Donald Chester Ide and brother Donald William Ide.

Kathy was born in Seattle, WA and spent her early years living as the daughter of a Foreign Service Officer in India, Turkey, Lebanon and Hong Kong. She graduated from the University of Washington with a masters degree in Special Education in 1970. In 1981 she married Christopher Boerner, then moved to Colorado Springs in 1983 where she raised her three children and taught at Harrison School District.

Kathy was a woman who inspired others with her strength, honesty, good nature, patience and her dedication to children and the community through teaching, volunteering and literacy education. She will be remembered for her unabashed cackling laughter, as a loving mother who wasn't afraid to tell it how it was, as a Quaker, and for her love of reading, art, travel and dogs.

A memorial meeting will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Colorado Springs Quaker Meeting House located at 950 E. Cimarron St., Colorado Springs, CO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B Street Food Pantry/West Side Cares and to the Colorado Springs Quaker Meeting House.
