Silvon Leon Dover, 89, passed away at home on April 14, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Silvon was born on August 13, 1922 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Arthur Lewis Dover and Louise Anna (Phelps) Dover. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura E. (Pier) Dover, his parents, and his brother, Robert E. Dover. He served in the Navy during World War II. He received the Bronze Star as well as the Jubilee of Liberty Medal from the country of France for his efforts on D-Day. He married Laura E. Pier at Hyattsville, Prince Georges, Maryland on February 3, 1944. He graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Finance and Economics. He was affiliated with Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Before retiring he was employed by the State of Colorado as a State Revenue Agent. He is survived by his children; Catherine (Dave) Tapey of Anchorage, Alaska; Carolyn (Jim) Wright of Colorado Springs; Constance Haynes of Littleton; Candace Hurtt of Gilbert, Arizona; and David Dover of Colorado Springs; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister, Neva Sparkman of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; 2 half-sisters, Donna Burgwald and Noreen Dover of Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10 AM with Funeral Services following at 11 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd. Burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd in Denver, CO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO.
